Enrolment
If you are considering enrolling at TAFE, you can start by following a few steps:
-
Select the program you want to study.
-
Check that you meet the recommended entry requirements specified for the program.
-
Ensure you have read the guidelines for TAFE students.
-
Check the entry method for your chosen study program.
The study program you choose will generally determine how you enrol at TAFE.
Enrol at Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre
Applications for associate degrees, advanced diplomas and diplomas (and some certificates) are made through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC ).
For these programs, TAFE institutes give preference to eligible QTAC applicants. Institutes may make further offers at the completion of the QTAC process, if places are available.
Details of available programs are published in the QTAC guide which is distributed through schools to Year 12 students and is also available at newsagents.
Visit the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) website or telephone 07 3368 1166 for further information.
Enrol at TAFE Queensland
Application for part time advanced diplomas, certificates and short courses can be made to any TAFE Queensland institute.

Some courses are more popular than others and therefore more competitive. Look at the cut off level for a particular course across different TAFE Queensland institutes.
Any previous vocational education and training study (including at school or elsewhere) may gain you credit in your chosen course. TAFE may also recognise your prior skills, knowledge and experience through the Recognition of Prior Learning process.
Ask about both of these possibilities when you enrol and you may be able to reduce your study time.
