Course summary

This course will prepare you for making coffees and offers the skills and knowledge required for entry level positions in most operations in hotels, clubs and restaurants that offer a coffee service.    You will gain ‘hands on’ experience in the provision of food and beverage services in SQIT’s Futures restaurant. Students receive a skill set qualification for this workshop.

The fee charged for programs where there is no Government subsidy or the participant is not eligible under the Certificate 3 Guarantee and are regarded as Fee for Service. For approved Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs payment of fees may use the VET FEE-HELP payment option.

Career Opportunities:  Individuals in this workshop will able to gain knowledge to obtain employment within the Hospitality industry (eg: café & restaurants)

Study Pathways: Upon completion of the program further study pathways include: Certificate III in Hospitality or Events with these modules being able to credit transfer into the next program.   Students may choose to then complete a Diploma in Events, Hospitality or Tourism with some modules being able to credit transfer into the next program.  



Information relating to how and when you will be assessed will be provided to you at the start of your course.  You will be required to complete all set assessments successfully to be deemed to be competent in the units you are enrolled in.


A refund will only be considered up to the start of delivery of scheduled classes.  After this date there will be limited grounds for consideration of refunds.  Please contact the institute to discuss.

Entry requirements: Completion of year 10 (Qld) or equivalent is recommended.  Please speak with the teacher if you have any concerns about the age of the student.

Resources required

Enclosed leather shoes must be worn to each lesson as part of occupational health and safety.  When cafe is opened black and whites would be preferred.  Please speak with the teacher if you would like further clarification.
