Certificate 3 Guarantee Funding
Certificate 3 Guarantee is State Government funding for eligible people who do not already hold, or are not currently enrolled in, a post-school certificate III or higher level qualification, such as a Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or University level qualification, but with the exception of some Foundation skills courses (i.e. literacy and numeracy based courses). A qualification attained overseas only prevents eligibility if it is one recognised by an industry or professional body as meeting Australian or Queensland registration or licensing requirements for a specific occupation. To meet the eligibility criteria, you must also be aged 15 years of age or above, no longer at school, and be either an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen, and permanently residing in Queensland.  Although this funding is predominantly available to fund study in Certificate III courses, it is not actually available for all Certificate III courses, as it has been allocated by the Government for use to target areas in which there is more of an industry need for skilled workers. For details of funding programs available for lower and higher level courses, please contact GCIT on (07) 5581 8300.

Non-Concession
If you are not eligible for a concession but are eligible for Certificate 3 Guarantee funding you will need to pay a contribution (Student Contribution Fee and Tuition Fee) towards your training.  Concessions are only available for those who hold an eligible Health Care Concession Card or Pensioner Concession Card, partners or dependants of those who hold such a card and are named on that person’s card, and those of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Concession
If you are eligible for a concession and for Certificate 3 Guarantee funding you will still need to pay an amount towards your training, but this amount will be charged at a concessional rate.  Concessions are available to holders of a Health Care Concession Card or Pensioner Concession Card, partners or dependants of those who hold such a card and are named on that person’s card, and those of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
