Course summary

Work in disability support community and/or residential facilities as a supervisor or manager.

Workers in this role:

  • Are usually also involved in service delivery, either direct client work and/or community development projects
  • Have responsibility for supervision of other staff and volunteers.
Qualification Structure
16 units are required for award of this qualification including:
  • 11 core units
  • 5 elective units

Entry requirements

This qualification has entry requirements. Refer to CHC08 training package for listing of compulsory units required and associated rules.

Entry requirements
To gain entry into CHC50108 Diploma of Disability a candidate must:
1. Be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following units of competency common to CHC40312 Certificate IV in Disability:

  • CHCCS400C Work within a relevant legal and ethical framework
  • CHCCS411C Work effectively in the community sector
  • CHCDIS301C Work effectively with people with a disability
  • CHCDIS410A Facilitate community participation and inclusion
  • CHCICS402B Facilitate individualised plans
OR

2. Have sufficient relevant work experience in the disability sector to indicate likely success at this level of qualification.

Employment Status
Students should be employed in the industry.

Open learning
This program has flexible enrolment, meaning you may enrol or enrol subsequently in any month of the year.

Online study
This qualification will only be offered through online study, students will be required to have a computer and email address.

Subject Selection
Elective competencies for this qualification have been selected to meet the needs of the workplace.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the formal recognition of your current skills and knowledge, gained through previous formal study, training and work or life experience. RPL assesses this prior learning against the requirements of a competency, using direct and indirect forms of evidence, and can remove the need for duplication of learning if it has already been acquired. If you feel that you may be eligible to receive RPL, discuss this with teaching staff.
