Advanced Diploma of Nursing - Online (Healthscope) (HLT61107)

Course summary

As an enrolled nurse the Advanced Diploma of Nursing - Online (Healthscope) enables you to become a specialist in your chosen area of nursing.  Develop a higher level of nursing knowledge and skill to use in specialised areas of health care.  Use this qualification to gain practical experience and further your career in the rewarding industry of health care.

Entry requirements

To gain entry into HLT61107 Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) a candidate must be eligible for registration (**) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) or equivalent.  (**) registration must be without notation: includes administration of medications by the enteral, topical, subcutaneous and intramuscular routes).

GCIT requires the following entry requirements to be met:

  • Be registered, or eligible for registration, as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) or equivalent. Students must provide a certified copy of their AHPRA nursing registration at enrolment.
  • Provide evidence of completion of HLT51607/HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) or be prepared to undertake a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process before enrolment.
  • Provide a written guarantee from their employer allowing them to undertake clinical practice within their facility.

Other requirements are:

  • Must demonstrate intermediate level computer skills by completing a short computer proficiency test. Participation in the computer proficiency test is mandatory and can be arranged by the Nursing Enrolment Officer.
  • Have access to the internet and have an email account.
  • Be a permanent resident.
  • Have a high level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Have Microsoft Word/Office or Office for Mac on their computer.
  • Be prepared to undertake the GCIT 100 Point Identification Check prior to enrolment. All students will need to present original documentation to the value of 100 points. The Institute’s Customer Service staff will provide students with the necessary form to complete.

Advanced Standing (RPL)
A Recognition of Prior Learning application will be required for Enrolled Nurses who do not hold HLT51607/HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing). There is a cost related to obtaining Recognition of Prior Learning. The process requires students to gather evidence confirming their competency. A content specialist will advise you in this task.  Enquire if you think you qualify.

Enrolment Instruction

Payment and Payment Plans:
Students can pay for course fees by cheque, money order or credit card if enrolling via distance (i.e. interstate).  In-person enrolments can be also paid by cash or EFTPOS.

Students may be eligible to pay course fees by instalment (fortnightly or monthly instalments for the cost of the course over the duration of study).  Students wishing to apply for a Payment Plan will be required to submit an 'Application for Student Payment Plan' which asks income and expenses be declared for consideration prior to a payment-by-instalment approval.  Approved Payment Plans are subject to terms and conditions and require a 25% deposit of the total cost of the course be paid at enrolment.

Assessment Information:
Each competency will have a study guide which outlines the study schedule and assessment items, including due dates.  Study guides will be provided to students at the commencement of each competency unit.
