About Queensland Training Awards

The awards showcase Queensland's best employers, apprentices, trainees, vocational students and training providers.

The awards program recognises and rewards training excellence at every level.

Held at a regional level in Brisbane North, Central Queensland, Brisbane South and Gold Coast, North Queensland, South West Queensland and Wide Bay Sunshine Coast, the winners competing for a state title will be announced in Brisbane in September.

The state winners are then eligible to nominate for national honours at the Australian Training Awards to be held in Canberra on 19 November 2009.

Nominations are now closed.

Vocational Student of the Year

Ariella Anderson

Ariella Anderson

Training provider: Wide Bay Institute of TAFE
Qualification: Diploma of Visual Art

Ariella says being a ceramic artist has given her space and liberty to document her journey as a female artist settling into Australian culture, after moving to Bundaberg from Israel.

Juggling her studies while raising three children, Ariella has enhanced her practical skills while learning to manage the business side of the art industry. Her work has featured in exhibitions, commissioned art works and was even included as part of an educational CD-ROM for art students at the University of Ulster in the United Kingdom.
