Renee Chamberlin Environmental studies and elearning champion

|
Environmental studies teacher, Renee Chamberlin, leads by example. She practises what she preaches in all aspects of her life.
"My husband and I live in a sustainable design home on 10 acres in Brisbane's north west suburbs," Renee says.
"Our house is powered by a stand alone solar system, which saves money and helps minimise our emission output."
Renee is an online teacher, which means she can work from her carbon neutral home office, saving 12 kilograms of vehicle emissions a day.
Online environmental footprint calculators can help people assess their own impact, producing surprising results.

Wayne Tierney Engineering teacher and Teacher of the Year award winner

|
Engineering Teacher Wayne Tierney was awarded the Manufacturing Skills Queensland Vocational Education and Training Teacher of the Year award in 2011.
The award recognises Wayne's outstanding dedication, professionalism and achievements in providing quality manufacturing and engineering related training to students at SkillsTech Australia.
"I am currently working as a Business Manager, Program Delivery and Design on the Papua New Guinea Liquefied Natural Gas Project for SkillsTech Australia.
"The PNG LNG Project is an integrated development that includes gas production in the Southern Highlands and Western Provinces of Papua New Guinea, in which we have been engaged to provide a range of training services and advice.
"A specific challenge was designing, developing and delivering manufacturing and engineering teaching resources for the Papua New Guinea nationals due to lower levels of numeracy and literacy.
"It was necessary to identify the literacy level and develop teaching resources and practical exercises to ensure qualifications were being delivered to Australian Quality Training Framework standards."
