Lager lovers and future wine buffs
Monday, 9 July 2012
You could be forgiven for thinking Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE's (SQIT) Toowoomba Campus is hosting a 6 month long party owing to the upcoming clinking of glasses and "Cheers!" from the grounds, but rest assured it is more refined, with beer and wine appreciation evenings starting July 18.
The beer appreciation night will sample local and international offerings and cover all things hops, and the wine appreciation evenings will cover table, fortified, dessert and sparkling wines with lessons on how to truly enjoy the tasting experience.
TAFE Hospitality Chris Clark said the classes would treat participants to beers and wines they might not previously have come across, and will be as educational as they are fun.
"From the novices to the connoisseurs these nights will have something for everybody, delicious drops to sample in a fun, social atmosphere," Mr Clark said.
The beer appreciation evening ($85) will be held from 6.00 to 9.00pm on Wednesday July 18, and repeated again on 22 August, 10 October, and 7 November.
The wine appreciation evenings ($200 per block of three classes) will held on the dates as follows, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm:
Block one:
Table Wine 1 August
Fortified Wine 8 August
Dessert and Sparkling Wines 15 August
Block two:
Table Wine 29 August
