TAFE students sign up for the happiest place in the world

Three lucky Sunshine Coast TAFE tourism students will be spending twelve months at Walt Disney World having just been accepted into Disney's Australia/New Zealand Work Experience program.
Natasha Ridge, Rhianne O'Brien and Rachel Colina graduated from the Diploma of Tourism in December last year and have their eyes firmly set on a magical future.
"We all decided we would apply at the end of the year when TAFE finished," said Ms Ridge.
"Rachel, Rhianne and I have become lifelong friends; we shared a lot of amazing experiences during our TAFE course and to be able experience this together is the best."
Ms O'Brien explained participants had to be a TAFE or university student to be eligible for the Disney program.
"Our teachers told us about this opportunity on the first day of our TAFE course and the idea stayed with us for the whole year," she said.
"If it was not for Sunshine Coast TAFE we would not all be getting to have the experience of our lives."
Ms Colina was similarly enthusiastic about the opportunities TAFE had provided them.
"Throughout our study with Sunshine Coast TAFE we experienced some fantastic things, Tangalooma Island, the travel expo, industry presentations and tour guiding," she said.
"The practical focus has really prepared us for the workforce and the dedication of our teachers was fantastic."
Sunshine Coast TAFE's Head of School Grant McDonagh said the TAFE continuously evolved its courses to align with industry priorities.
"This year we commenced Mandarin language training in the Diploma of Tourism," Mr McDonagh said.
"This qualification helps provide our students with the skills and knowledge to become competent in a broad range of managerial skills in tourism operations.
"The great thing about this course is that students are not just limited to tourism in a travel agency.
"This is such a broad industry with many incredible career prospects available especially to those who make the most of every opportunity like these three very enterprising young ambassadors for Australia."
