TAFE captures attention at Photography Awards
Friday, 15 June 2012
Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) staff and students captured the attention of the photography world at the recent 2012 Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards collecting silver distinctions and awards.
Students studying towards the Diploma and Certificate IV in Photoimaging submitted three photographic prints to compete in the national competition in Melbourne which ran 25 to 27 May.
The eight MSIT students and photography teacher Lisa Zarri competed against other professional photographers from throughout Australia and New Zealand for a number of elite photography industry awards.
Ms Zarri was honoured with two silver awards for her submissions.
Helen Stanley, Education Manager for Visual Arts, Digital Media & Information Technology was delighted with the results.
"The level of work that the students entered into the awards was of an incredibly high standard, and it was a proud moment for TAFE to witness our students receiving recognition and awards for their efforts," Ms Stanley said.
"The judging of the photography submissions could be watched online, so students could see the judgeâs reactions and hear their feedback in real time."
Mid Year enrolment applications for MSIT's Visual Arts, Digital Media & Information Technology programs can be made by contacting the MSIT Customer Service Centre on 1300 657 613 or visiting www.msit.edu.au.
