Students and staff at the Loganlea, Alexandra Hills and Mt Gravatt campuses of Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) are reaping the benefits of an $85.2 million state wide TAFE modernisation program.
MSIT Institute Director Kaylene Harth and Evan Moorhead MP, Labor State Member for Waterford, representing Minister for Education Geoff Wilson, today officially opened the new facilities during a ceremony held at the Loganlea campus.
The MSIT infrastructure projects at the institute's Mt Gravatt, Loganlea and Alexandra Hills campuses are valued at $4.84 million. They were completed under the Federal Government Teaching and Learning Capital Fund's Better TAFE Facilities (BTF) program.
Institute Director Kaylene Harth said the refurbishments, refits and facility improvements have taken place across many areas of the institute.
"The Better TAFE Facilities Project has helped MSIT create positive improvements at three of the institute's eight campuses. The upgraded facilities will enable MSIT staff and students to work, teach and receive training and qualifications in modern and impressive surroundings," Ms Harth said.
"It is essential for MSIT to provide the most up to date and industry standard training resources to ensure our students have the skills and relevant training while the state's economy recovers and industry expands."
Features of the upgrades across the three MSIT campuses include:
Mt Gravatt

Student classrooms - new tables, chairs, carpet and painting of walls and hallways
